Position Openings
We are recruiting motivated graduate students. Currently we don’t have postdoc openings but any interested postdocs with their own scholarship or fellowship are welcome. Those who are interested in joining us should email Takashi Tsuchimochi at tsuchimo@shibaura-it.ac.jp.
Important notice for prospective Ph.D./Master students: All applicants must undergo a pre-consultation process before officially submitting their application to the admission office. For international students, this may take a week or two to be completed due to the security export control requested by the Japanese government. Accordingly, we strongly encourage you to plan ahead. Check the website of our admission office for more details. https://www.shibaura-it.ac.jp/en/study/graduate/Pre-consultation.html

(1) MEXT scholarship fully covers your stipend and tuition during your study. It also supports your travel expenses to Tokyo. There are two ways for applying for this scholarship. The first option is to be nominated by the Japan embassy in your country, and it may be very competitive. The second option is to be recommended by SIT, after enough experience of collaborative research with us through, for example, research internship in our group.

(2) SIT also offers a fully-funded scholarship of a similar scale to the MEXT scholarship to a few (probably 1-2) international Ph.D. students every fiscal year.
[2024 Fall] SIT Scholarship for Foreign Graduate Student
(3) SIT now provides the SPRING fellowship for 4-5 new Ph.D. students, generously supported by Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST). The fellowship includes a stipend of about 2M JPY (enough for living expense in Tokyo) and a research fund of about 0.5M JPY, each year.
(4) Our group also may have a research assistantship depending on the funding situation. Contact us for more details.
